Brandon Miller
Director of Outreach
Brandon Miller is the Director of Outreach for the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, where he leads statewide communications efforts to inform and engage Alabama’s 400,000 veterans. Since joining ADVA in 2021, he has served as the department’s spokesperson, developed media campaigns, coordinated public events, and chaired Alabama’s Challenge Communications Committee, working closely with state agencies, veteran service organizations, and the Governor’s Office.
Mr. Miller commissioned as a Public Affairs Officer in the United States Navy Reserve in 2025, where he will continue his commitment to service through strategic communication and support of the naval mission.
Before entering state service, Mr. Miller built a successful career in journalism and digital media. He has worked as a writer and copy editor for SAGE Publications, producing academic case studies for an international audience, and previously held positions in digital and print media at WBRC FOX6 News, Grand View Media, and The Anniston Star.
Mr. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Auburn University and a master’s degree in strategic communication from Troy University. His work has earned multiple honors, including the Central Alabama Business Journal’s 2023 Top 40 Under 40, the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs’ 2022 Distinguished Service Award, the Prattville Chamber of Commerce’s 2022 Top 20 Under 40, and SAGE’s Editor’s Choice Award.
A creative communicator and strategic leader, Mr. Miller is passionate about sharing impactful stories, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring veterans have access to the resources and recognition they deserve.
