Executive Director, Alabama State Veterans Homes

Mrs. Kimberly B. Justice is the Executive Director of Alabama’s State Veterans Homes. She is responsible for oversight of Alabama’s five State Veterans Homes located in Alexander City, Bay Minette, Huntsville, Pell City and Enterprise. The homes serve 878 veterans with 798 skilled care beds and 80 domiciliary/assisted living beds. There are over 1,100 employees at the state veterans homes.

Mrs. Justice is also responsible for the State Home Construction Grant Program and oversees all capital projects. The most recent grant project was the construction of a 5th State Veterans Home in Enterprise, Alabama. She is proficient in every aspect of the VA Per Diem Payment Program, the Pharmacy Sharing Agreement Process and the VA’s Nurse Grant Program.

Mrs. Justice completed her college internship at the VA Medical Center at the Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System and began work at the Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in 1997 for the management company. She began employment with Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs in 1999. In 2005, Mrs. Justice was promoted to Veterans Homes Coordinator and in 2012 as Executive Director of State Veterans Homes. She received the 2015 Sustained Superior Performance Award and the 2019 Commissioner’s Excellence Award. In 2024 she was featured in Women Who Mean Business issue of Central Alabama Business Journal.

Mrs. Justice has been a member of the National Association of State Veterans Home (NASVH) since 2005. She served in various leadership positions to include Southern Region Director, 2nd Vice President and 1st Vice President before becoming the organization’s President from 2016-201. She currently serves on the Executive Committee, VA Liaison Committee, and Chair of the Constitution, Bylaws and Resolutions Committee.

Mrs. Justice graduated from Auburn University in Health Services Administration. She continues to maintain her Nursing Home Administrator license as well as certification as a Veteran Service Officer (VSO).  Mrs. Justice lives in Auburn, Alabama with her husband Greg. They have two daughters Katie (26) cand Caroline (23).
