Lynda Jenkins
Director of Field Operations
Lynda Jenkins serves as the Director of Field Operations for the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, she leads and oversees the statewide operations of Alabama’s Veteran Service Officers, ensuring consistent, effective delivery of services to veterans and their families.
Lynda has been with the Department for more than 18 years, during which she has held several key positions—including Director of Quality Assurance & Training, District 3 Manager, Veterans Service Officer, and Assistant Veterans Service Officer.
Before joining the Department, Lynda served 21 years in the United States Army, where she developed extensive experience in leadership, personnel management, and mission execution.
She possesses a comprehensive understanding of State and Federal veterans’ programs, the Freedom of Information Act, the Privacy Act, and ADVA regulations. As a dedicated advocate for veterans, Lynda has counseled and assisted countless individuals, provided in-depth guidance on VA benefits, and prepared and submitted claims under both Federal and State law. She is highly skilled at assessing complex situations, resolving issues involving multiple variables, and implementing practical solutions tailored to each circumstance.
Lynda holds an Associate’s Degree in General Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science, and a Master’s Degree in Psychology. She is currently pursuing a second Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of South Alabama.
Her exemplary service has been recognized with the 2010 ADVA Veterans Service Officer of the Year Award and the 2017 Commissioner’s Excellence Award.
